For sale is a vintage Swiss Made Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust Ladies' watch with reference number 69173, dating back to the year 1997. It features a 26mm two-tone stainless steel case with fluted 18k solid yellow gold bezel. The dial on this particular example comes in a gold sunburst finish, with gold tone indices. Stick shaped hands indicate the time, and a calendar window can be seen at the 3 o'clock position through the signature Rolex lens bubble or "cyclop". Inside the watch sits a Rolex 2135 movement, a highly regarded automatic calibre used in many Rolex ladies' watches. The screw-down crown is original, made from solid 18k yellow gold and decorated with the Rolex crown logo. Fitted to the watch comes the original two tone Jubilee bracelet with 18k yellow gold center links, 468B end links and 62523 clasp. Also included is a generic black leather strap with generic buckle, which can easily be swapped to drastically change the look of the watch.
The example sold here has been worn throughout its life, but is still in decent overall condition considering its age. The dial is looking really clean, with crisp text and undamaged finish. You will find wear marks on both the case and bracelet. Said case has been cleaned entirely, but left unpolished to maintain its sharp edges, curves and original finish. The crystal was replaced for a generic sapphire crystal, and is therefore brand new. The Jubilee bracelet has quite some flex to it, but is still perfectly wearable.
Functionally, the watch comes without service history but has been thoroughly checked and is working perfectly within Chronometer specification. In all, a well loved and honest yet perfectly functional timepiece at a bargain price.
The watch comes as a complete set with its original outer cardboard box and inner red leather box, as well as its paperwork: the chronometer attestation, a chronometer certificate booklet, a "Rolex Datejust" booklet and "Your Rolex Oyster" booklet, as well as a 1997 calendar card and red leather card holder. With its original Jubilee bracelet, the watch will accommodate wrists with a circumference of up to approximately 18cm. Decreasing the size is easily done by removing some bracelet links. In order to extend the bracelet size past the current maximum of 18cm, spare links will have to be sourced online or at a dealership. Alternatively, any 13mm leather strap can be fitted in order to make the watch suit any wrist size.
