Rhodium finish is a small layer of this precious metal which is put on white gold to make it look brighter, shinier and whiter. Gold is always yellow, but can be made whiter by melting it together with other metals. This mix of metals has a whiter look than the pure yellow gold, though it still has a yellow shine in it.
To mask this yellow shine rhodium is used to finish jewellery. Since this rhodium finish is not permanent, it’s recommended to bring your jewel in by a jeweller every half year to give it a new rhodium finish. Of course you don’t have to do this.
